Add the verification code to the MOTD
The MOTD is the message shown under your server's name in Minecraft's multiplayer list. It's neither the name the player registers nor the chat welcome message.
Keep your current message: just add the code at the end, without replacing the whole MOTD.
Welcome to my server! | MR-0123456789ABCDEF
This code is an example. Use your own code from the MineRadar listing; don't copy the one from this guide.
From your host's control panel
- Log in to your host's control panel, open your server, then look for a "MOTD" or "Server description" field in the settings.
- Copy your current message so you can put it back later. Add a space, then your full MineRadar code at the end of the message.
- Save. If the panel asks, restart the server to apply the change; this briefly disconnects players.
If you're going through the server.properties file
- Stop the server from the panel. In the file manager, make a copy of server.properties, then open the original file.
- Look for the line that starts with
motd= - Add the code at the end of its value, keeping the existing text and colors. Save the file, then restart the server.
motd=Welcome to my server! | MR-0123456789ABCDEF
Edit the existing line: don't add a second motd= line. The code must be in the message, not in a comment starting with #.
Verify, then restore your message
- In Minecraft, refresh the multiplayer list with the same address as your MineRadar listing and check that the message changed.
- Go back to the MineRadar tab where your code is shown, then click "Verify MOTD now".
- After confirmation, remove only the code you added. Save and reapply the configuration if needed.
Message not changing, or verification failing?
A plugin such as MiniMOTD, or a proxy such as Velocity/BungeeCord, may provide the message instead of server.properties. In that case, edit the configuration that manages the public MOTD. If several messages rotate randomly, temporarily add the code to each one.
Check the address and port on the listing, copy the whole code without cutting it, and use a code that's still valid. It expires after 30 minutes: if it has expired, generate a new one from the listing.
Can the code be hidden from players?
The current verification doesn't offer a reliable invisible mode: the code added to the MOTD may be visible in the multiplayer list during verification. Black text or off-screen lines don't guarantee it will stay invisible, depending on the client used.
The simplest approach is to add it temporarily, verify right away, then remove it after confirmation. The code gives no access to your console, files or passwords.
